Health Matters is an independent Personal Training business setup in 2009 by Ed Hutchinson.
That's me in the picture. I've got over 13 years' experience as a personal trainer, qualified to Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Sports Therapy.
I love what I do, helping people from all backgrounds get fitter, lose weight, drop body fat and just feel better about themselves.
There are too many companies trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to health and fitness, the truth is the fundamental basics will never change, and always work - eg you need to burn off more calories than you consume.
Fast approaching 41 myself I'm well aware of how the body slows down, deals with food and drink in a different way, what you can and can't get away with, and even how much you can train the body until you over do it. I'm still very much "in the trenches" and constantly testing training and diet protocols and ideas.
Nearly all of my clients get fast initial results when I make a few tweaks to their daily habits, especially eating. Then it's a case of staying consistent to the plan, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
The first session we do together we spend some time establishing where you are now, measurements and body fat percentage. It's a lot easier to measure progress when you have a starting point as a reference.
I appreciate that not many people know how personal trainers operate, so prior to any training I do offer all new prospective clients a free trial session, which is a great chance to meet each other, see the gym, and ask any questions so you feel comfortable with what you're getting, how it works, and what I'm like before making any commitment.
I do have some terms and conditions, mainly in place so that I can keep my business viable. Here they are:
I get that life happens and sometimes you can't make your planned session. I appreciate as much notice as possible, and will be happy to rearrange a session at no extra charge if you let me know at least 24 hours in advance.
If you're paying monthly, there's no contract and you set up payments to me via Standing Order. Payment needs to be with me for each month, prior to any sessions starting that month. E.g. if your first monthly session is on the 6th, I need payment for that whole month by the 6th.
If you're block booking, you can buy 6 sessions for use within 3 calendar months from purchase, or 12 sessions for use within 6 calendar months from purchase. Simple. Again, payment is required prior to the first session.
I want to provide you with as much information as possible, but we can go over this together if needed, or if you have any questions or concerns.

COVID-19
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have added in the option of online training via Zoom, or a mixture of both.
Whilst this virus is still about I always ask all clients to be sensible with their health, if you feel ill, or anyone in your house feels ill, then it's always best to stay at home until you feel better.
The gym I use has a flow of fresh air through it at all times, is deep cleaned daily, and has an outdoor space we can use too.
